FAQs

What virtual classes do you offer?
We have hosted a wide variety of private events; from weeknight cook-alongs where we help you get dinner on the table and expand your recipe repertoire, to cocktail parties where we teach a festive cocktail and several tasty appetizers, to fundraising events where we provide the culinary entertainment, to technique classes where we teach fundamentals such as batch cooking, or the foods of a particular country. So many possibilities! We are happy to collaborate on creating the perfect menu for your event.

What’s included in a virtual cooking class?
Our virtual classes are designed to be interactive, hands on cooking experiences. All virtual cooking classes include live, step by step cooking instruction, a digital document with the instructor's recipes, and a video recording of the class. We'll send a detailed list of equipment and ingredients needed for class several days in advance so guests have time to shop, prep and prepare.

How do I register for an in-person class?
To secure your space, please register using the links on the Classes Page. Registration and pre-payment are required (only 12 reservations per class).  Full payment must be received prior to start of class.  Payment can be made by credit card, Venmo, or check.

What is your cancellation policy?
Before you register, please be aware that due to our small class size, all paid reservations are non-refundable

Credit: If you are unable to attend for any reason, please notify us at least 7 days before the scheduled class. This ensures your payment can be used as a credit toward another class at a future date. We will do our best to reschedule you for a future class.

Transfer to another date: 7 days notice must be given to transfer to another date. Your seats in the class are transferable within the same evening to other guests, so if you have colleagues, friends or family members who can take your seats, they are welcome to attend the class in your place. Please email cancellation notices.

What is your COVID policy for in-person classes?
For the safety of all guests and Joyful Kitchen staff we respectfully ask that everyone who registers for a class be vaccinated.

How long are in-person classes? Will we eat?
The class will be approximately 3 hours including dining time. Due to our time constraints, not all class participants will make all menu items and recipes. Delicious and generous tastings of all that is prepared are served to guests. Guests dine together at a communal island.

What should I bring ?
Please dress comfortably, wear close-toed shoes for safety, and come with a smile and eagerness to learn. For in-person classes we provide all the tools you need to participate: including an apron, cutting boards, knives, etc. Each guest will receive the recipes from the night’s class.

Can I bring my own wine to enjoy with our meal for in-person classes?
Only adults, 21 years of age, or older may consume alcohol. We politely ask all those drinking to do so responsibly.  We limit the number of bottles of wine to (1) 750ml bottle of wine or (1) 6-pack of beer per person (no hard liquor).  Please do not bring more bottles of wine/beer than number of guests in your party.  If you violate our policy you will be asked to leave without a refund. We will provide wine glasses and non-alcoholic beverages.  We offer both still (filtered tap) and sparkling water.

Where are you located and parking?

If you or anyone in your party has a food restriction or severe allergy and does not wish to communicate the extent of the allergy with us, we strongly advise against dining with us.  Please note all cooking is done in a kitchen that uses wheat, dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, seafood and soy.
